Bridgend
Brussels Film Festival | Competition
At least 79 suicides committed by teenagers have been recorded in Bridgend, southern Wales since February 2007. Most were found dead by hanging, with no suicide note left, and police investigations have found no concrete evidence of a conspiracy. Many of them knew one another; they were friends, neighbours, and family. Headlines splashed across the UK earned Bridgend its infamous nickname: «Death Town». When Sara, a high-school student, and her policeman father, David, arrive in Bridgend, they find the city in crisis mode, but David has been assigned with the task of looking into the inexplicable plague.
Bridgend is a ground-breaking film that investigates the chain of events that caused the sleepy town to become the subject of gruesome headlines across the UK.
