“What is it better to prostitute: arse or soul? Arse, of course. It is more painful physically, but it’s cleaner”. In the 1960s, Grisélidis Réal left Geneva to escape boredom, with no money and no destination. Her quest for freedom never ceased. She sold her body all her life “to stay alive”. She wrote five books. In 2009, four years after her death, her body was transferred to Geneva, to “where those who wrote the history of the city are buried”. Her epitaph reads: “Painter, writer, prostitute”.
