Mira of de teleurgang van de waterhoek
Cycle : Georges Delerue
In the early days of the 20th century, the construction of a bridge across the River Schelde is about to put an end a Flemish village’s isolation. Based on the novel by Stijn Streuvels that caused a scandal when it was published in the 1920s, it tracks the ensuing drama and the ill-fated love affair between an engineer (Jan Decleir) and a sensuous village girl, Mira (Willeke van Ammelrooy). Hugo Claus wrote the screen adaptation, and asked his friend Fons Rademakers to direct.
