Le Concert Olympique

Even during his lifetime, it was clear that Beethovens’ progressive music shook the music world back then. It became quite a challenge for the composers of the next generation to compete with a musical legacy that for the first time in history combined enormous forces (orchestra, choir AND singers in his 9th Symphony!). This concert of Le Concert Olympique proves that Schubert and Mendelssohn handled the task of composing master pieces splendidly. By introducing their own lyrical, more introvert style they managed to outweigh Beethovens’ genius. For this occasion, Le Concert Olympique will perform both as a chamber music ensemble and as a full orchestra.
