Portrayal of an Italian family in the crisis-hit Borinage region. Filmed in miner’s cottages and using migrant workers as actors, the film is a poignant neo-realist snapshot of the time set against a backdrop of nostalgia. Also showing is a short film from the same director which focuses on a young worker who discovers his painful condition on his first day in a brickworks.
