James Ellroy
Festival America
AMERICA FACING ITS HISTORY
In the run-up to the Festival America, Brussels organizes an evening dedicated to the current organizers of American literature. In their books, Rachel Kushner, Kevin Powers, Jane Smiley and David Treuer have each in their own way looked closely at the history of their country. A few weeks before the presidential elections and a few days before the 15th anniversary of the attacks of 9/11, we ask these authors of today what they think about the history of their country? And about the current America ? Frank Albers will lead the debate.
During the second part of the evening, James Ellroy, an iconic figure of American crime fiction for more than a quarter of a century, will cast an unflinching gaze upon the America depicted in his novels. He will be interviewed by Jérôme Colin.
A special evening jointly organized by Francis Geffard (director of Festival America), Passa Porta and Flagey.
