Filmconcert: Gosses de Tokyo

Junior 10+

Gosses de Tokyo, the best loved silent film by famous Japanese filmmaker Yasujirō Ozu, was recorded in 1932 and is an enchanting comedy showcasing  certain themes that will  characterise the later work by this famous filmmaker.  Grosses de Tokyo is the last silent film by the director and shows us in a compelling way the place of children in a changing society. Composer Gwenaël Ganasan wrote the music for the film and did so in a compelling and innovative way. Far removed from the standard burlesque style spearheaded by Gwenaêl Grisi,  Gwenaël’s compositional style blends both storytelling and composition in a playful and visual way. The music and dramaturgy of the movie revolves around the children (most scenes in the movie are filmed from the children's point of view) and becomes a tailor-made experience. The project is presented by  a trio of piano, clarinet (or bass clarinet) and cello that will surprise our juniors!
