Blanka

Panorama Outsiders | Brussels Film Festival

Blanka, young orphan of 11 years, survives in the streets of Manila, begging and robbing tourists. She saves every day the little she manages to find to be able to buy a mom. But one day, she meets Peter, an old blind guitarist. And those two seem to be meant for each other. But the world was not built in a day, and love cannot be bought. Presented at the Venice Film Festival, Blanka touched soul and moved us. The two protagonists, sometimes lost in the dubious streets of Manila are struggling to survive and find some love in a cruel world without merçi for those who have nothing. Fortunately, the film also gives us hope and help us believe in humanity against all odds. A good lesson about life and humanism staged with happiness. A strong film not to be missed.
