Mellow Mud
Panorama Outsiders | Brussels Film Festival
This feature directed by the young Latvian Renars Vimba presented at the 2016 Berlinale, depicts the transition towards adulthood of a girl who struggles to get by. She lives with her younger brother and her grandmother in the depths of a forest in a hut virtually cut off from civilization. The day the grandmother dies, they are doomed to themselves and decide to hide it from the rest of the world. While everything seems hopeless, the girl will fight and try to build her life up. The filmmaker manages to offer a film full of hope that shows that the search for love and learning can be used by all to find a better life. An intimate film, sensitive, and a director to follow without question.
