Mom and Other Loonies in the Family

Through the ups and downs of a family, the author Ibolya Fekete traces the history of Hungary during the entire 20th century. The film speaks of territorial issues and changing borders, opposition between Catholics and Protestants, persecution of Jews, denazification by the Communists, mining, etc. The filmmaker uses ingenious methods to illustrate the topics and moves from one period to another with remarkable readability. The result is dense and marked by the tender and fair portrait of three remarkable women.
