Gershwin, Stravinsky & Shostakovich [+ Symfomania ! Workshop + concert for KIDS (10 +)]

WinterJAZZ / Flagey '75'

The roaring twenties ! Jazz, at the height of its popularity, invaded the major cities of Europe like Paris and Berlin. Even classical composers had to sit up and take note. Chostakovitch ventured into this lighter genre, producing two jazz pieces. Gershwin, with his Piano Concerto ushered new energy into the classical concerto, thanks to its jazzy harmonies and blues scales. With Petrouchka, Stravinsky pushed the limits even further, combining vertiginous
arpeggios with menacing trumpets and harrowing beats.
