À la française Festival

A festival à la française would be inconceivable without Camille Saint-Saëns. It was he who curbed the growing Germanic influence on French music, and who founded the Société Nationale de Musique to support his cause. French composers first and foremost! He was the precursor of Debussy and Ravel, keen advocates of a music that was typically French, who paved the way for the impressionist movement.
