"The Violins Weep" - Quatuor Amôn
Klarafestival: Music Masters on Air
‘The violins weep for a lost time that will not return / The violins weep for a lost homeland that will perhaps return.’ These moving lines from the poem The Violins by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish express feelings of loss, homesickness and yearning, so recognizable to anyone in exile. During this concert, Klarafestival presents new works for string quartet composed by six young composers from five different countries, who used this poem as their inspiration. The Brussels string quartet Amôn offers an intense first performance of the new music. The evening will begin with a screening of The Invader and The Origin of The World, a short film by Belgian filmmaker Nicolas Provost. This concert is part of the Music Master on Air project, an international collaboration between 6 European festivals promoting new music by young composers.
