A song is born. Bert Joris’ Sundown

It was a sunny day in July: Bert Joris is sitting six meters high in his chestnut and plays the trumpet. The tree is his usual place in which he composes his jazz numbers. A new song is born: Sundown. 'A song is born' shows the journey of Joris and his new song, starting from the solitary inspiration in the tree to the premiere, more than a year later, with the 16-member Brussels Jazz Orchestra at Jazz Middelheim.  Joris also talks about his difficult relationship with the trumpet: "She used to be my enemy. She prevented me to play what I wanted to play.  And I'm still on my guard: it remains a love-hate relationship.”
