Queen Elisabeth Competition [Semi-final]

Queen Elisabeth Competition

At each session, which is in two parts, the audience will hear four different semi-finalists.

The first two will play the concerto they have chosen from among:
- Luigi Boccherini’s Concerto in B flat major, G.482;
- Joseph Haydn’s Concerto in C major, Hob.VIIb:1;
- Joseph Haydn’s Concerto in D ebli, Hob.VIIb:2.
They will be accompanied by the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, conducted by Frank Braley.

After the interval, two other cellists will present their recitals as well as an unpublished compulsory work written specially for this edition of the Competition. The choice of recital will be made by the jury, from the two programmes proposed by the candidate, which should each include at least three movements of a Solo Cello Suite by Johann Sebastian Bach.
