La Galerie des Solitaires: Vernissage & performance
La Galerie des Solitaires | La Semaine du Son
La Galerie des Solitaires after « Le stéréoscope des solitaires » by Juan Rodolfo Wilcock. An installation of 14 triptychs and a sound installation by Ana Maria Rodriguez, especially designed for the Week of the sound.
We dive into the curious and bizarre universe of Juan Rodolfo Wilcock. His short surreal fables and mythological stories are populated by bizarre creatures, «sentenced to ordinary spurs of moment, crazy eccentricity and chaos».
The author paints a portrait of seventy lonely souls: a couple of cannibals, gods stranded in daily life, nerds who cannot stand sunlight, a starving centaur who paints still lifes, an unemployed angel,... These marginal weirdos defend their life choices stubbornly, courageously and passionately.
This fantastic, strange and sometimes eccentric universe by Wilcock is interwoven with cruelty and humour. Hieronymus Bosch is never too far away, and the borders between humans, animals or ghosts are blurred... Ingrid RW combines her portrait gallery with a sound installation.
