CINÉ-CONCERT : Metropolis (live soundtrack)
Fritz Lang
The silent black-and-white film Metropolis by the German director Fritz Lang was the first science fiction film in history. This 1927 mega production was not only the most expensive and most famous German film of all time, but also one of the milestones in the history of the cinema: no fewer than 36,000 onlookers and 500 miniature skyscrapers were used during the shoot. This movie is accompanied live with the original music of Gottfried Huppertz: a rich, late romantic orchestral score in the tradition of Mahler and Strauss.
