A film in the spotlight: L'Atalante [CANCELED]

Since the film L'Atalante has different subtitles than initially announced, the session “Een Film onder de loep » of 25.04 (7:30 pm) dedicated to this film will unfortunately be cancelled.  Instead the film Afterimage (A. Wajda) will be screened. We apologize for this change.

Jean Vigo made few films, but each was remarkable in its own right. Particularly L’Atalante, a masterpiece of the early talkie era that achieves an unlikely marriage of poetry and truculence with a tonal freedom that had scared off producers and distributors at the time. Wouter Hessels invites you to admire the strokes of genius that still dazzle over 80 years after its completion.
