A Tamil refugee who has formed a fake family to secure political asylum ends up working as the caretaker in a housing project, and finds himself embroiled in gang conflict on the project. From his depiction of the daily grind to a spectacular explosion of violence, Audiard draws on social realism to move into genre territory, in what is essentially a vigilante movie.
