Poème mystique
Violinist Elsa Grether and pianist Ferenc Vizi present two sonatas for violin and piano by Ernest Bloch. The composer himself once observed that the first sonata showed the world “as it is, the frantic struggle of blind and primordial forces”, whereas the second sonata – Poème Mystique – showed the world “as it should be: the world of which we dream... full of idealism, faith, fervour, hope”. Bloch's Nigun and Arvo Pärt's Fratres share a similar mood of mysticism and meditation, making this whole concert a true mystical experience.
