You would be hard pushed to find a closer musical affinity, in France, than that between the string quartets of Debussy and his admirer Ravel. They often feature on the same concert programmes. Debussy dedicated his 1893 String Quartet to the Ysaÿe Quartet, with the great Eugène Ysaÿe on violin.
