Pianist-composer Vijay Iyer (pronounced “VID-jay EYE-yer”) is one of the most interesting and atypical jazz artists today. The American, of  Indian descent, has had an exceptional 2012, winning in an unprecedented five categories of the 2012 Down Beat International Critics Poll: Jazz Artist of the Year, Jazz Album of the Year, Jazz Group of the Year, Pianist of the Year and Rising Star Composer, and with the release of his excellent new album, Accelerando.
