On the outskirts of Gaza City, the Samouni family are about to celebrate a wedding. It’s to be the first celebration since the war in which the Samounis lost brothers, cousins, their homes, their olive trees. As the survivors rebuild their homes and replant the trees, the most difficult task they face is piecing together their memories. (OEil d’or prize for best documentary at Cannes).

After studying anthropology, Stefano Savona turned to a career as an independent photographer. His documentary, Notes from a Kurdish Rebel, was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival.
