Awase is the latest project by Nik Bärtsch’s band Ronin, undoubtedly one of the most original bands of the moment. Composer and pianist Bärtsch describes the unique mix of repetitive and minimalistic jazz, funk and contemporary composition of Ronin as ‘ritual groove music’. Ever since their previous album Llyrìa, released 8 years ago, the group’s line-up changed considerably and they have worked extensively towards a new, highly contagious sound.
