Het Sacrament was originally a screenplay written for Fons Rademakers, but like many, it never made it to the big screen. So Claus reworked the original text into an excellent novel, Omtrent Deedee, which later became a play, Interieur, and finally a screenplay for his own movie, Het Sacrament. The film is notable for the performance of Frank Aendenboom, an underrated actor, but also of the entire cast, who turn this joyful family reunion into a forerunner of Festen.
