At the end of 2019, Boris Giltburg embarked on an ambitious plan to record all 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas on video for the 250th birthday of the composer in 2020. He had already mastered nine of them and had yet to study 23 works. Giltburg is working hard to make this ground-breaking project a reality. For the occasion, he interprets Beethoven's last four piano sonatas. While the Hammerklavier is known for its size and virtuosity, his last three piano sonatas focus on intimacy and introspection. Moreover, Beethoven gives us a musical message in his last sonata: keep hoping, because thanks to music we can overcome all difficulties.
