David Kadouch / Marco Borggreve

Saint-Saëns & Berlioz

Brussels Philharmonic, Stéphane Denève, David Kadouch

Tonight, the Brussels Philharmonic envelops us in French atmosphere. Shortly after his studies in Paris with Paul Dukas, the young Belgian composer Marcel Poot dedicated his Ouverture joyeuse in 1930 to his former teacher. The imaginative overture sets the tone for the concert. Together with David Kadouch, the Brussels Philharmonic then performs Camille Saint-Saëns' popular Second Piano Concerto with Bach influences and impressive virtuoso passages. Finally, Hector Berlioz incorporates his unrequited love in his most famous composition, Symphonie fantastique.
