Closing concert of Flagey Piano Days 2022
Lukáš Vondráček, the Czech winner of the 2016 Queen Elisabeth Competition, loves to surprise audiences during his recitals with known and unknown masterpieces by Czech composers. On this occasion, Vondráček chooses the poetic music of Bedřich Smetana and Josef Suk, Antonín Dvořák's son-in-law. He contrasts their music with some of the famous piano works by the German composer Robert Schumann: the passionate and virtuosic piano cycle Kreisleriana and the Arabesque which is characterised by its poignant lyricism and introspection.
