A new instrument, new sonorities, and new insights motivated Pieter Wispelwey to make this new recording of Bach's integral Cello Suites. The DVD which is released as a bonus to the double CD was shot in the unique historical ambiance of Wadham and Magdalen college, Oxford: it features Wispelwey in musical and scholarly interaction with acclaimed Bach researchers Laurence Dreyfus and John Butt.
