On Christmas Eve '44, Nelly from Brussels and Nadine from France meet for the first time in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. The war will separate them but the love that unites them will help them to survive. In 2007, director Magnus Gertten saw archive footage from 1945 showing survivors of Nazi concentration camps arriving in Malmö, Sweden. Among them was Nadine Hwang. He discovers the extraordinary life of Nelly and Nadine. During the last months of the war, they were separated but managed to find each other. They decided to share their lives while keeping their relationship secret from family and friends. Nelly's granddaughter delves into her grandmother's personal archives and reveals the moving love story between Nelly and Nadine.
