Bis ans Ende der Welt (Wenders)

Les Deutschlands: Wim Wenders

Wim Wenders, along with Fassbinder, Herzog and Schlöndorff, made a major contribution to the revival of German cinema – which had become moribund – in the 1970s.

Wenders became his own producer very early on as he laid claim to a creative freedom for which he fought relentlessly, both in Hollywood and in Germany. His sensibility and lyricism find maximum expression in Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire, acclaimed the world over. He also shared his passion for other artists through film: Dashiell Hammett, Pina Bausch, Salgado. A complete artist who always strives for artistic perfection, Wenders has set a benchmark for contemporary cinema, in both fiction and documentary form.
