Nicolás Rincón Gille

Nicolás Rincón Gille has released his first feature film: Valley of Souls. This tragic and powerful story, with its tropical setting and themes, overlaps with the director’s documentaries, which we will also be showing at Flagey. The oppression of South American dictatorial and military regimes, endured in particular by rural populations, is a constant motif in his work. The river, a vital feature of the setting, is another recurring theme, rich in dramatic and symbolic possibilities: a source of life and activity, that communicates and separates communities, but also a place of death. This overview of his work will confirm the coherent and original approach of the Bogotá-born filmmaker who trained at INSAS. (Cycle organised in partnership with the CBA)
