Music Chapel Festival: Americas

For this 13th edition of the Music Chapel Festival, the Music Chapel offers you a festival based on composers from the two Americas, North and South. The opportunity to rediscover or discover the richness and diversity of music from across the Atlantic since the beginning of the 20th century.

Gershwin, Korngold, Barber, Glass & Reich in the North, Piazzola, Villa Lobos or Ginestra in the South, this festival will be an opportunity to discover some of the great masterpieces of the other side of the Atlantic, during a 4-day immersion with numerous artists in residence, two partner orchestras, the OPRL and the Brussels Philharmonic, as well as two guest orchestras, the Appassionato Ensemble and the Ars Nova Ensemble.


The program of this Festival features:

  • 4 prestige evenings: with among others Symphony No. 3 in E minor by Florence Price (30.12), Concertos No. 1 & 3 for Piano and Orchestra by Philip Glass and Double Sextet by Steve Reich (01.12), Violin Concerto in D major op. 35 (02.12) and Cello Concerto in C major op. 37 by Erich Korngold (03.12) but also works by Gershwin, VillaLobos and Barber.
  • 1 family show, “Les contes enchantés”, by Compagnie Artichoke on Saturday 3 December at 11:30 and 14:00.
  • daytime concerts in Studio 1 with, among others, String Quintets by Antonín Dvorak, Sonata for Violin and Piano by Philip Glass and a 100% vocal concert ranging from Menotti to Sondheim via Bernstein.
  • the Fest’OFF, a moment of discussion every day at 19:15 in Studio 2, Jeunesses Musicales workshops on Wednesday afternoon, a photo wall and a surprise for children on Saturday 3 December …
