Closing concert

The closing concert of the Festival Musiq3 Brussels brings together the loyal Brussels Philharmonic and the Vlaams Radiokoor under the baton of Portuguese conductor Joana Carneiro. From Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, a humanist prayer infused with deeply modern energy, to George Gershwin’s An American in Paris, a dazzling manifesto of the fusion between classical music and jazz, and the luminous, introspective writing of Eric Whitacre, this programme celebrates an America born of cultural crossings.

At a time when the United States – like so many other countries – is marked by identity tensions and political polarisation, these works serve as a reminder that it has also been a place of refuge for artists from elsewhere. Through music, they powerfully affirm that other paths remain possible: those of openness, dialogue, and an art that transcends borders.
