In Marguerite Duras’s oeuvre, and particularly in her films, there are certain places, special places, empty places, that recur obsessively. As if these places were necessary, as if they predated creation. Places inhabit and haunt her work. She builds a kind of perimeter, a space, which gives birth to the story. The interviews of this first part were recorded entirely at the home of Marguerite Duras, in Neauphle-le-Château, where she also shot many of her films, including Nathalie Granger.
