After Gilgamesh
La Semaine du Son
Starting point of the concert is the epic tale of King Gilgamesh. This concert explores the question of life after death. Should we die to have a better life? This concert combines music and visuals and links old tales to present day storytelling. Marc Galo tells a story with different voices and invites us to tell our own epic tale.
The stage is divided in several areas, as «small salons». One is inhabited by writer, poet and narrator Ben Okri, the others by five musicians. At the start of the show, the video projection is very discrete, almost black, with little amplification. The music and lyrics by Ben Okri wander across the stage and mingle with Okri’s voice in an improvised way. The video comes and goes. Sometimes the music disappears to make place for voices from people on the street who were asked if there is life after death? We are witnesses of their anonymous, surprising and intimate answers…
