In Lingui, The Sacred Bonds, a 15-year-old girl becomes pregnant out of wedlock, a major taboo in the Muslim community where she lives. Worse: she wants to have an abortion and with the aid of her mother explores all options to do so. A brave and well-crafted film that tackles the most intractable of interdictions head on.
