Fabrice du Welz

Director and cinephile Fabrice du Welz has always had a unique approach to genre filmmaking.

Inspired by horror movies and fright flicks and subverting the codes of fiction with strains of morbid realism, the Belgian director has created a body of work that melds cinematic myth with a visceral, dark, chilling sensory experience. A taste for death and for extreme cinema penetrates all his work, from his first feature film, Calvaire, to his latest, Adoration, which will be screening this January at the Agnès Varda Studio, along with four more of his films. Not for the faint of heart.
