Quatuor Arod
Founded in 2013 at the Conservatoire de Paris, the French Quatuor Arod quickly rose to international prominence as one of the most exciting young string quartets of its generation. Their name—borrowed from a warhorse in Tolkien’s mythology—evokes strength and unity, both musical and personal. This programme weaves together three radiant major-key quartets full of light, lyricism and grace: Haydn’s Op. 76/1, Beethoven’s youthful Op. 18/2 and Tchaikovsky’s deeply moving Op. 11. Before the concert, don’t miss the 2023 documentary Le Quatuor Arod: Ménage à Quatre by Bruno Monsaingeon, an intimate portrait of the quartet and their encounter with György Kurtág.
