Flagey Piano Days | Friends selection
Due to illness, Julien Brocal will be replaced by Lilit Grigoryan.
“Lilit has abundant strength, determination, a clear and assertive musical language”. Maria João Pires
Born in 1985 in Yerevan, Armenia, Lilit discovered music and art through her family of musicians and scientists. With her first teacher Arkuhi Harutyunyan she familiarized herself with the piano, an instrument that very quickly became not only a passion, but also a way to express her emotions and thoughts and share them with her friends on stage. She was taught by Sergey Sarajyan at the Komitas Conservatory in Erevan and Matthias Kirschnereit at the Rostock University of Music and Drama.
Lilit is the laureate of several international competitions, including both the Francis Poulenc Competition and Piano Campus in France, the Vianna da Motta Competition in Portugal, Paderewski Competition in Poland and Aram Khachaturian Competition in Armenia. She has been awarded the Culture Prize of Armenia by the country’s president himself. She is the recipient of the Tabor Piano Award of the Verbier Festival Academy and a scholarship from the Yamaha Foundation. Lilit has been invited to perform in some of the world’s finest concert halls and festivals. She has appeared with several internationally renowned orchestras and toured with solo recitals in 27 countries all over the world. In February 2012, the label Disc Auvers released Lilit’s first CD. In October 2012 she entered the piano section of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium, first under the direction of Abdel Rahman El Bacha, then under that of Maria João Pires. Lilit is also part of the Partitura project.
